Volver wins plenty of Goyas

The Academy of Spanish cinema awarded Pedro Almodovar yesterday evening. His movie Volver won the best director, best soundtrack and best movie prize. Penelope Cruz won best actress, and Carmen Maura best actress in a supporting role.
Almodovar has always had a tempestuous relationship with the Academy, but, the night they love him, he isnt there! Oh well...

Pan's Labyrinth won most prizes though, and is up for more Oscar nominations, it must be said.

Pan's Lab is a bitch!! u.u In this case I'm the bitch cuz I still haven't seen it and decided to hate it, for me it stole Volver's spot in FL film at the Oscars.

I'm glad though, the Spanish Academy is more clever than the American one. Honestly I don't need to see Pan [or even Flags Of Our Fathers, Letter From Iwo Jima]to know Volver was my favorite film from 2006 and it hurt me deeply [yes, I tend to be very dramatic] to see the complete snub the American Academy gave to Pedro this year. Oh, yeah Penelope has a nod for Best Actress... but we all know Mirren will get it.
